Ron Paul busts fundraising records

By Libby

The little candidate that could is still chugging along with the most groundbreaking fundraisers in the history of the internets. Yesterday's Boston Tea Party money bomb shattered all previous records for one day contributions, raising 6 million in small donations. One imagines all the candidates on both sides of the aisle are green with envy.

With 14 days left in the fourth quarter, the Texas Republican has amassed more than $17.5 million. He's the only candidate, Republican or Democrat, to increase his fundraising haul with every quarter...

Which brings up the question, if he's able to raise so much dough, why isn't he doing better in the polling? This could be a clue. His chief, unofficial fundraiser, has never voted before in his life. The guy is 37 years old and never found a reason to engage in the process until now. Many of Paul's supporters are said to be from the same demographic group and those people don't get the phone calls.

Ron Paul is very much in this race and I'm going out on a limb here and predicting that by the end of February, all those who have been writing him off as the 'kook' candidate are going to have to start taking him much more seriously.
