Newshog's Commenting Policy

Recently, Newshog took an uptick in daily visits, mainly due to a couple of links from a few large blogs who still think it's OK to showcase the littler guys. For which I am forever greatful, by the way.

But it means that I am finally going to have to set down some kind of commenting policy so here goes. Ready?

  • My blog, my rules.

There. that should be simple enough. For those who need it spelled out:

Newshog isn't run for money, it's a private site rather than an government one, and I regard it as my home. Newshog is not a neutral site. It is intended to express and disseminate the authors’ point of view. I reserve the right to limit comments to those that, in my view, comport with its stated comment policy. Comments that do not comply are subject to deletion and banning of the author’s ISP.

When I can come round your house and hold a party in your living room with my (select whichever minority you would find most offensive) friends and drink all your booze - then you can camp on my blog and troll.

In particular, I will not allow name-calling, personal attacks, racist comments, religious bigotry or the use of obscenity by any commenter, whether they are by persons who agree or disagree with the views expressed by Newshog.

Nor will I allow commenters to hijack a comments thread just to advertise their book/product/for-profit webiste etc. Pushing your own God/Goddess/Flying Spaghetti Monster at the expense of all others is advertising in my view. If you want to advertise, at least offer to pay me first.

I therefore reserve the right to delete or edit comments and to ban any offender's ISP address, without notice and without need for explanation.

    Play nice.
