Can we say "point made"?

by shamanic

I'm all in favor of expanding S-CHIP to cover more people, but the fact remains that there are a lot of people who desperately need this program continued. Can we agree that the point has been made that George Bush and too much of the GOP is opposed to S-CHIP and go ahead and pass a continuance of the program as it exists?

I know how politics works, but I'm deeply concerned that Democrats will decide that this is just an awesome issue for 2008 and impede a continuance of something that Bush will sign, leaving millions of American kids out in the cold for more than a year while the votes are tallied and new politicians sworn in in 2009.

It is an awesome issue, but let's pick our battles. Bush has agreed to some form of the program. Pass that, and win on issues like a health care safety net for everybody in 2008.
