Turnabout Being Fair Play

by shamanic

You know this just felt good for John Kerry.

And you know this felt good for the guy whose images were being pulled constantly. Here's how he pulled off the "hack":
...the only thing necessary to effectively commandeer McCain's page with my own messaging was to simply replace my own sample image on my server with a newly created sample on my server. No server but my own was touched and no laws were broken. The immaculate hack.

Update (by Cernig) Nico from Think Progress, in comments, directs us to his own post today on the withdrawal of Sam Fox by the White House as an ambassadorial nominee. Nico says "these people are shamless" and it's easy to see why:
If there was any question whether the White House’s move was a gesture of good will towards Sen. John Kerry (D-MA), that has been put to rest.

During today’s press briefing, White House spokesperson Dana Perino stood by Sam Fox, calling him a qualified candidate and saying that President Bush was “disappointed” that senators had rejected him “based on partisan politics instead of his leadership abilities.” (Explaining Fox’s qualifications, Perino twice mentioned the fact that Fox was named “St. Louis Citizen Of The Year” in 2003.) Asked whether the White House thought Fox’s contributions to a group that smeared veterans should have been an issue, Perino said, “No, I don’t think it is.”

Also, while only Sens. Kerry and Chris Dodd (D-CT) had formally announced their opposition to Fox’s nomination, Perino revealed that Fox was pulled because “his nomination would not have passed” the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
Nico has the vid and the transcript.

So being a major sponsor of a squalid smear campaign against a rival isn't a factor in choosing Bush's ambassadors but being “St. Louis Citizen Of The Year” in 2003 is? Gimme a break. Given that, it's laughable that the White House dares to pull the nomination and then blame the Dems for partisan politics on the basis of two formal announcements.
