The Hypocrisy That Is Hinderaker

John Hinderaker of extremist rightwing blog Powerline has a post up tonight attacking "Nancy Pelosi's refusal to allow House Resolution 267, a call for the release of the captured British sailors and marines who are being held in Iran, to be voted on by the House of Representatives."

He quotes Pelosi's spokesman as having said that the British government have not asked the House to make a statement and that in the absence of that request she feels "reluctant to weigh in on the incident without knowing that such a message would do more good than harm."

Hinderaker titles his post "Pelosi to Brits: Drop Dead!"

He continues:
Lord knows the Democrats would not want to insert Congress into an international crisis. In the same spirit of non-insertion, Pelosi departed for the Middle East, where she will visit Syria, Israel and the West Bank. I suppose we should be grateful that she won't stop by to pay her respects to Ahmadinejad.
Sheer hypocrisy. Why? Because John Hindraker just the other day suggested that John McCain is the "Lincoln of our Time"

And Hinderaker's modern day Lincoln is the very man who said at a press conference last week that Britain should start a war with Iran over the detained sailors but that the US should provide only "moral support"!

Hinderaker, of course, hasn't mentioned this McCain version of "Brits drop dead" in any of his opinionating on the crisis. But he does manage to quote Rep. Charles Dent (R-Pa) as saying "The British are our closest allies, and I think we have to stand next to them in a moment like this." Something McCain obviously doesn't agree with - at least not so close that US forces might be fired upon.

This Brit, for one, would prefer it if John Hinderaker AND his 'Lincoln' would kindly keep their fat gobs shut if this kind of trash is all they have to offer.
