The Top Ten Stories You Missed in 2006

Or at least Foreign Policy Magazine's version of the top 10. It's pretty good, though. I was aware of most even if I didn't get time to write about them on Newshog.

Here they are, in reverse order.

10. Hackable Passports

9. What’s Worse Than Bird Flu? The Cure.

8. Petro Powers Drop the Dollar

7. The Gender Gap Gets Smaller

6. Iran and Israel Hold Secret Talks

5. United States Funds the Taliban

4. Russia Fuels Latin American Arms Race

3. Bush’s Post-Katrina Power Grab

2. China Runs up African Debt

1. India Helps Iran Build the Bomb, While the White House Looks the Other Way

Very definitely worth a read. I would have maybe included the story of Pakistan's duplicity in the War on Some Terror, the ongoing situation on the Turkey/Iraq/Iran border, the massive world drought with an attendant depletion of world food stocks and the rise of Japan's nationalist rightwing as being just as important and just as little known as some of the stories FP include, but that's just me.

What would you have included?
