America should withdraw from the Geneva Convention and instead embark on the tedious process of entering into bilateral agreements with each country that is a signatory to the Convention. This may be time-consuming and burdensome, but it is the only avenue that our increasingly absurd court has left open. If Republicans were smart, and they're seemingly not, they'd use this whole idea of giving Geneva protections to terrorists as a political club. Although, with Bill Frist saying they'd take it up after the summer recess, perhaps he sees a Fall debate on this issue as good for the GOP.Ah well, I said it might come to this. I bet the Militant Right would like those "bilateral agreements" to have clauses just like the one the Iraqi government wants revoked by the UN. They could add a "tribute clause" while they are at it!
Any pretense that the Militant Right has an ounce of understanding of the principles upon which America was founded has now left the building.
