Left Behind

Bingo! The Washington Post hangs it out there for everyone to think about.

if blame is to be laid and lessons are to be drawn, one point stands out as irrefutable: Emergency planners must focus much more on the fate of that part of the population that -- for reasons of poverty, infirmity, distrust of officialdom, lack of transportation or lack of information -- cannot be counted on to leave their homes after an evacuation order.

It doesn't really matter whether you are black, white or green with pink polkadots. But being poor will get you left behind by both Democrats and Republicans every time.

Conservatives are going to gleefully point fingers at the Mayor of NO and the Governor of Louisiana over the "left behind" but it was obvious from the first that the poor were being murdered by ommission and so FEMA, Homeland Security or even Georgie himself should have taken charge and done something. They were HIS citizens too. Where does the buck stop?
