Happy Labor Day to my American friends. On this singular Labor Day when the consequences of poverty have been brought home to America as never before by the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina I would ask you all to read a post by John Scalzi on what its like to be poor (big ups to PSoTD for bringing this one to my attention).

Support your Labor Movement and support your Unions, because the Democrats and Republicans aren't interested in supporting the poor. Just ask the citizens of New Orleans.
