It is with great sadness that I pass on the news that David Hackworth has died from the bladder cancer that he always attributed to exposure to chemical defoliants in Vietnam.
Hackworth was one of a kind - a man of knowledge and principle who always stuck up for the "poor bloody infantry", a blogger and a journalist, an activist and a scholar as well as a legendary warrior. He will be greatly missed.
