Iran's Khatami raps US on rights

It really has come to this.

Mr Khatami said the US was in no position to criticise Iran on human rights.

"Now they must respond to the crimes committed in Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq and their relentless killing of people in all parts of the world in the name of freedom and democracy and the support they provide to the brutalities and atrocities committed against the Palestinian people," he said.

It was just a matter of time before someone called us on this. I am surprised it wasn't the Chinese. Of course no one at state has been criticizing them lately. So here we stand, on the moral low ground, telling others how to be "good" people.
This harkens back to what I said in my short conversation with piratecaptain. We "our administration" like to believe we are morally superior to others (read non-Christians) and have an obligation to encourage them to be more like us. I don't buy it and our actions don't bear it out.
