Our malevolent media

By Libby

When it comes to predicting winners in these primaries, we're not exactly hitting any home runs at the Newshoggers, but I certainly nailed the response to Ron Paul's second place showing. The LAT and CBS ran the most substantive coverage and that's not saying much. A couple of paragraphs that take small notice of the outcome, but otherwise, he's a footnote compared to speculation over whether Fred will quit and whether Giuliani's strategy backfired. Nevermind that RP has beat Fred and Rudy in most of the contests and bested every single candidate except Romney in Nevada. You just know if either Fred or Rudy had taken second, the media would be piling on with serious analysis about potential comebacks.

As you know, I'm not a Ron Paul supporter but nothing illustrates the malignant depravity of our elite media more clearly than their treatment of his candidacy, although I'd admit their obvious bias against John Edwards comes a close second. I continue to think the only way we're going to break their stranglehold on the public discourse is to break up the conglomerates or at least bring back the Fairness Doctrine.
