So extreme right doyen of all that is news-worthy, Matt Drudge, tried to smear CNN reporter Michael Ware, calling him a drunk and alleging he heckled John McCain.
MCain had already ended up with egg on his face because Ware, amongst others had ridiculed his claim that someone could walk the streets of Baghdad in perfect safety.
Then McCain went to Iraq on a photo-op driveby visit to try to show his idiocy had some merit...and only managed to make himself, surrounded by heavily armed guards and with air support overhead, look even more ridiculous.
Them came the Drudging up of a smear....which has likewise proven utterly false.
Drudge atributes his story to simply an "offical". I don't know for sure, but if I were a betting man I would bet that the source is an official member of John McCain's team.
All that were indeed the case and it were to be confirmed, McCain would be left looking even more of a loser from a perfect trifecta of idiocy.
