Fool Us Twice, We'll Keeping Cheering Bush On

The narrative for war with Iran is being swallowed whole by the gullible nation, even though exactly the same kinds of made-up intelligence is being bought from exactly the same kinds of half-assed groups (each hoping to be the next rulers of a "liberated" nation) as was fabricated for the war with Iraq.

A Harris Poll released today found:
While almost everyone is concerned about Iran's nuclear program, almost half (47%) of all U.S. adults think that the United States should only act with support from the United Nations to prevent Iran from building nuclear weapons. Only a few adults (8%) think that the United States would be "perfectly justified to act alone," while more than a third (38%) think that the United States could act alone, "but it would be better to have support from the United Nations."

...Other findings in The Harris Poll include:

* Only a very small minority (6%) of adults think that Iranian nuclear research is "not anything for the United States to worry about." An overwhelming majority (85%) says that this is cause for concern.

* Fully 70 percent of adults think that Iran is using their nuclear research to try to build a nuclear weapon. One-quarter (25%) of adults are not sure.
Jeebus, that's depressing.

The reason is simple - the crappy "intelligence" and fearmongering we've all been treated to have been regurgitated wholesale - not just by neocon supporters, blogs and "think tanks" - but by a media simply too lazy and too fearful of losing it's precious "access" to ask the obvious questions or the obvious non-neocon experts. Has anyone seen Dr. Gordon Prather on a single news show?

I guess you really can fool all the people all the time.
