Iraqis AWOL in US

By Libby In the kind of odd synchronicity that I adore, while Cernig finds a billion in missing equipment in Iraq, I'm reading about a dozen high value Iraqis missing in the USA. Numerous Iraqi military and law-enforcement officials brought to the U.S. as part of special intelligence and training programs have run away and are seeking asylum in this country or disappeared altogether, The Washington Times has learned. [...] Intelligence officials who spoke on the condition of anonymity, say nearly a dozen Iraqis fled military training facilities in the U.S., including a brigadier general who went to Canada with his family earlier this year. I saw another report that puts him in Mexico. Truth is they don't know where the hell he is. Cheney may be seeing a rosy future for Iraq, but it would seem the Iraqis who manage to wangle their way into the US, would rather risk incarceration here, than go back to their jobs at home. I leave it to you to draw your own conclusions as to what that says about the success of the surge.
