The Politico reports on a past secret meeting between the grandpappy of neoconservatism, Norm Poderetz and Bush, but Think Progress digs up the money quote. Podhoretz has argued that “if we were to bomb the Iranians as I hope and pray we will…we’ll unleash a wave of anti-Americanism all over the world that will make the anti-Americanism we’ve experienced so far look like a lovefest.” Cool. Then everybody would be trying to kill us and we get to use all our great big bombs. What's not to love? Update: I'm kindly reminded that in my irritation and haste, I neglected to mention why we should be very concerned about what this lunatic has to say. Not only does N-pod have great influence over our president's decisions, he is also Rudy's foreign policy guru. And, says the man with the ear of the current and possibly next president, the war in Iraq is a success. Based on what?!? A success by what measure. Aside from the fact that Saddam is gone, on what measure can one say that the totality of this war has been a success? That is a near-delusional assertion. I'd go for completely delusional myself. These people are living in a dream world and somehow they managed to drag us all into a nightmare, that some days it seems, we may never be able to wake up from.
