Read His Lips - No New Ideas

By Cernig

I'm utterly unsurprised that Bush has announced he will make no shift in his Iraq strategy and will veto any bill from Congress that attempts to force one on him. Nor is there to be a "post surge", just "surge forever."

Bush has long gone way past "steadfast" and "courageous" right into "three year old pitching a tantrum because his toy won't work his way."

I haven't written about the flurry of stenography in recent days which suggested Bush might change course back to sanity because I simply didn't believe it. He's made plain his intention to keep the U.S. in Iraq for decades and I'm not certain he could any longer find sanity with both hands and a map.

Time to quote Swopa over at Needlenose.
ESTRAGON: Let's go.
VLADIMIR: We can't.
ESTRAGON: Why not?
VLADIMIR: We're waiting for the political and security environment to stabilize.
ESTRAGON (despairingly): Ah!
Sigh.
