More unit rotation notes

Building on the previous post, the US Army is taking steps to maintain 20 ground combat brigades in Iraq until at least Christmas by their recent announcement of deployment orders to ten combat brigades. More from the AP here:

A Pentagon spokesman says the deployment orders, which have been signed by Defense Secretary Robert Gates, give the Pentagon the "capability" to carry the buildup to the end of the year. But he says it does not mean the military has decided to keep the increased level of 20 brigades in Iraq through December......
