GOP Pres. Longshot - Bomb Iran To Win In Iraq

By Cernig

Over there in Georgia, Republican presidential nomination longshot Dr. Hugh Cort III, a psychiatrist from Birmingham, Ala., has been explaining his belief in an extremist conspiracy theory and his plan for winning in Iraq by bombing Iran.
Cort, who said he began attending anti-terrorism conferences following the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, told the audience of about 20 that nuclear weapons have been smuggled into the United States through Mexico. He said Osama bin Laden acquired the weapons from the former Soviet Union and has also hired former Soviet experts to maintain them.

“When I first heard this, I thought this was science-fiction,” Cort said. “But then when I did the research I was, like, horrified to find out that this was a very strong possibility...Cort said the smuggled weapons could now be hidden in mosques, and that the FBI refuses to search for them for fear of offending Muslims.

Bill Carter, an FBI spokesman in Washington, said that the agency would respond to any reports that terrorists possessed nuclear weapons in the United States.

“There would be no hesitancy of the FBI to deal with that situation,” Carter said during a telephone interview Tuesday afternoon. “I am unaware of any information of suitcase nukes being hidden in mosques in the United States.”

...On the issue of war in Iraq, Cort that he advocates a 48-hour bombing campaign in Iran as outlined by retired Air Force Lt. Gen. Thomas McInerney, a FOX News military analyst.

“He says we will never win the war in Iraq until we deal with Iran,” Cort said of McInerney’s analysis. “Iran is sending money, weapons, agents and high-tech explosive IEDs that are blowing up our soldiers in their Humvees. General McInerney says that Iran will have nuclear weapons in a year or less. He says we must bomb Iran’s nuclear facilities and the headquarters of (Iranian President Mahmoud) Ahmadinejad and the Mullahs, and we can take them out in a 48-hour bombing campaign.”

Cort said during an interview following his remarks that he agrees with McIrney’s plan and does not believe that holding discussions with Iran, as recommended by the Iraq Study Group, should be considered a viable option.

“This will win the war in Iraq, because Iraq will settle down,” he said of the bombing campaign. “We will take away Iran’s nuclear facilities before they get nuclear weapons and start World War III and kill a billion people. And we will win 80 percent of the war on terror, because Iran does 80 percent of the world’s terror attacks.”

Cort also said that he supports constitutional amendments to ban abortion and gay marriage.
Cort is right there with much of the diehard 28% brigade. And one has to wonder if he's saying out loud what the other, more prominent candidates privately agree with...
