More on Basra

The UK Ministry of Defense is reporting another combat fatality in Basra this afternoon. The soldier was killed by small arms fire as he was covering the rest of a patrol. This is the fifth combat fatality incident this month and the ninth combat death this month for the British.

Right now the British have about 7,100 soldiers in Iraq while the US has slightly more than 150,000 soldiers in Iraq. The British in Basra are proportionally suffering three times the combat deaths as the US this month... so much for the quiet south.
