One Law For Rulers, Another For Ruled

Compare and contrast:

  • Reuters: "The CIA said on Friday that it fired an intelligence officer for leaking classified information that sources said contributed to a Washington Post report about alleged secret CIA prisons in Eastern Europe.

NBC News identified the accused officer as Mary McCarthy, and said she worked in the CIA Inspector General's office before being "marched out" of the spy agency on Thursday."

  • WaPo: "Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice leaked national defense information to a pro-Israel lobbyist in the same manner that landed a lower-level Pentagon official a 12-year prison sentence, the lobbyist's lawyer said Friday."

  • The Lima News, Ohio: "Lawyers for Vice President Dick Cheney's indicted former chief of staff on Friday defended their decision to release a letter to the news media before it was filed in federal court, and they urged the judge in the CIA leak case not to react by issuing a gag order."

Double standards much? Yet another principle on which America used to be based, that of one law for all, trampled in the mud by the Bushevik revolution.
