Hey, hows the Bush crusade to makeover the world in the image of "freedom" doing?
Pretty well.
In the Ukraine, President Viktor Yushchenko's Chief of Staff has resigned after accusing senior officials of corruption.
In Germany, the chosen one who was going to reform that nation in Bush's image has been caught doing a "Biden" (does anyone really count him as a non-Republican?) and plaigiarizing from the words of the late Ronald Reagan. Her party is claiming it was "inspiration".
And in Iraq, the President has gone on TV claiming judges extracted a "confession" to many crimes from Saddam Hussein, in a move so transparently dodgy that even the British uber-conservative Telegraph put quotes around the word "confession". If you think such a public claim might be prejudicial to the law's due process you are obviously an appeaser and apologist for tyrants. At least its nice to have the uncertainty in the Iraqi constitution about what kind of judiciary they would have cleared up.
So there you go. All nicely on track to have governments worldwide that enshrine all the most valued tenets of the Republican and Democratic Parties - croneyism, corruption, intellectual dishonesty, a fine disregard for the law and contempt for the poor, dumb citizens they represent.
