- Europhobia is still keeping track of politics in the Ukraine, a dead issue in the US press now. Could all that noise about a Yushchenko victory meaning a shift to the West actually be true after all?
- Matt Yglesias seriously drops the ball (through lack of one google search) when he describes Chertoff as "a serious professional who knows what he's doing." Sure...if you need a Nazi to partner Gonzales, the Gremlin definitely knows what he is doing.

- Common Crap calls the Rice confirmation hearings a "gutless show. the whole thing lacks intestinal fortitude. talk about a waste of tax dollars", then follows with a count of Dr. Rice's lies. Excellent research work which the Senate Dem's should have done.
- The oil for food scandal and Republican cover-ups of big US companies' involvement is covered over at Shameless Antagonist.
- The Sideshow makes one of the most sensible blog comments on explaining away the US election exit polls I have seen.
- No More Mr. Nice Blog challenges educated right-wing pundits to speak out on the evolution/creationism debate, saying "does it bother you that the people you praise think Darwinism is the work of the Devil?"
- Moderate Voice thinks Hell must have frozen over - if you are a Republican President and Peggy Noonan criticizes your speech as too grandiose and, basically, unrealistic, then it must have.
- Ezra Klein over at Pandagon draws our attention to a simple fact about the war on terrorism - we have to get past just shooting terrorists and invading places.
- Give yourself an intellectual treat - read Greg Taylor's interview with The Quantum Mind of Stuart Hammeroff over at The Daily Grail - Dr Hameroff is best-known for his research on 'quantum consciousness', an alternative model to the accepted view of how consciousness arises.
- There is one US intelligence outfit that has consistently been right on the button, for a fraction of the price of CIA or the Pentagon, but the INR isn't much liked by neocons. Kevin Drum has the details.
- Jesus' General asks Powerline about an ad on the latter blog's promoting the Iraqi dinar at a markup of a mere 234%.
- If you are used to the vitriol and diatribe of the US right vs left debate, maybe you should read Straight Banana's post about the civil, respectful and friendly discourse between pro- and anti-europeans.
- Pacific Views has an opinion on why labor unions matter - Without the American labor movement there is no American left, and the debate taking place right now could very well determine if the movement survives.
