Political Fib of the Day - Truth in Perspective

It's funny, really.

To see two presidents that were selected by the religious sects of their respective nations giving speeches at the U.N. and both of them justified in making their remarks.

W said a few things that even I can agree with:

President Bush chose to speak over the heads of several world leaders seated before him in the general assembly chamber in New York and address their people directly. He challenged the delegations not just from Iran, but also Syria and Sudan.

He invoked the interests of "ordinary men and women free to determine their own destiny" and expressed his desire for a world in which "the extremists are marginalised by the peaceful majority".

And that's what sane people are striving for.

Although W's method of "marginalising" the extremists in Iraq seems to be generating more rather than reducing the extremists and leads into Ahminutjob's (Thank you, Cernig!) speech:

Mr Ahmadinejad's speech only once directly referred to the United States, but was infused throughout with criticism of the "exclusionist policies" of what he called the "hegemonic power" and its grip over the UN through its membership of the security council.

"The question needs to be asked: if the governments of the United States or the United Kingdom who are permanent members of the security council, commit aggression, occupation and violation of international law, which of the organs of the UN can take them to account?" he said.
And that is a valid question, I'm afraid.

I'm not a supporter of Iran, but I am a supporter of the future, and in this strange dance between the U.S. and Iran, there are a few certain things we can almost be sure of:
  • If Iran is putting together a nuke in the express interest of delivering it to terrorists, some city in the world is going to largely disappear.
  • If that does happen, Iran is going to disappear, regardless of guilt. (It could be a stolen Russian, Indian, British, French, Pakistani, or [even a] U.S.-built bomb, but we're not going to care.)
  • If you, dear reader, survive it's going to be your job to build a better world.
So...what was I saying again?

Oh, yes, fibtime:

First
Up
To Speak
Is Dubya...
Then Ahminutjob...
And They're BOTH Speaking Their Own Truths.
